I would like to thank all the residents in Clifton and Pendlebury who voted for me in the recent by-election. I was very disappointed not to be elected as I would have worked tirelessly for the whole ward.
I was deeply concerned to learn that a large number of residents in Clifton feel that they live in the forgotten and neglected part of the ward. I can only hope that they begin to receive the standard of services they are entitled to and their Councillors will take the time to listen to and act upon their concerns.

On Thursday, local residents in Clifton and Pendlebury will have the chance to choose a new Councillor. For many years the local community has been let down and taken for granted by the Labour Council - Labour do not listen to local residents.
Your Council Tax has now risen by 86% since 1997 and is one of the highest in the entire country, but what do you get for your money? The Labour Council can’t even look after the local environment properly by clearing litter and fly-tipping and our highways continue to crumble from lack of investment - that’s before the £22 million of taxpayers’ money wasted on the failed congestion charge bid!
This Thursday, you have the chance to make your voice heard. If elected as your Councillor, Jillian will be a strong voice for local residents in the Council Chamber, and she will always listen and put the views of the community first. It’s time for a change - vote Conservative!

It’s clear from the responses that local residents feel that they have been let down and taken for granted by the Labour Council. At the by-election on March 19th, the local community has a clear choice between hard-working local Conservative campaigner Jillian Collinson and the candidate of a Labour Party who have ignored residents in Clifton and Pendlebury.

- The overwhelming majority of respondents did not think that the Labour Council listens to them - Jillian will always listen to local residents and put their concerns first.
- Local residents feel their Council Tax bills are too high - Conservatives proposed a freeze in Council Tax this year, opposed by Labour and not supported by the Liberal Democrats.
- Residents are not happy with the state of their roads and pavements - Labour have neglected our highways for decades, Jillian Collinson thinks fixing them should be a priority!

Local residents in Clifton and Pendlebury - and across Salford - have been let down and taken from granted by the Labour Council.
Millions of pounds of your money have been wasted on the failed congestion charge. Labour’s response to these difficult economic times is to spend more money on glossy magazines. Tens of thousands of pounds were spent subsidising an ice rink.
Local residents are paying more and more in Council Tax but the Labour Council is not listening and does not deliver on basic services like fixing our broken roads and clearing littering hot-spots.
That’s why last month, the Cosnervatives on Salford City Council called a motion of no-confidence in the Labour leadership of the Council - which was not supported by Swinton and Pendlebury Liberal Democrats.
Residents in Clifton and Pendlebury deserve better - it’s time for a change!
Your local Conservative campaigner for Clifton and Pendlebury is Jillian Collinson.
Jillian has also been selected by local Conservatives as their candidate for the upcoming Pendlebury ward by-election, which following the sad death of Cllr Maureen Lea will be held on 19th March.
Jillian has lived in the local area for over 20 years. She is particularly interested in health and education issues and is a governor at Springwood Special School in Swinton and also at Oakwood School. She is a relationship and bereavement counsellor who is involved with the Primary Care Trust work on palliative care for children.
Commenting on her selection, Jillian said: “It is an honour to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Clifton and Pendlebury. I am passionate about ensuring that Clifton and Pendlebury are safe, secure and happy places to live, grow up and work”.
